Accused in sensational POCSO case found dead; verdict to be delivered this week

THODUPUZHA: The accused in the Idukki Kumaramangalam POCSO case that created a sensation has been found dead. He has been identified as Thankachan (Kurinji Thankachan-65) of Olamattom Karimkunnam Kurinji. He was the second accused in the case.

Thankachan was found hanging near his house coming under the Ramapuram police station limits in Kottayam. A note believed to be a suicide note was found. Serious allegations have been levelled in it. The note says that innocent people are involved in the case.

The incident happened in 2017. The case is that Thankachan took a minor girl to various places and raped her. Thankachan's death came as the verdict was due this week. The court had postponed the verdict in the case due to Thankachan's absence.
