ALAPPUZHA: The body of the Malayali medical student, who was murdered in an attack by her classmate in Uzbekistan has been brought back home. The dead is Sawariya Basant (22), daughter of Basant of Haripad Pilappuzha Puthucaud Suprabha Bhavan and Mini.
The accused identified as Sadarul Anam (23) of Malappuram Perinthalmanna was arrested by the police in Uzbekistan. Both were students of Bukhara State Medical University in Uzbekistan. Sawariya’s family has stepped forward with serious allegations against the accused.
‘Boys and girls stay together in the hostel. There are 16,000 students in the hostel and the facilities there are very poor. Sadarul Anam attacked Sawariya very brutally. There were bruises from head to toe. She was not killed by a single blow with a laptop. Her classmates said that the accused had been forcing her for conversion. The classmates are eyewitnesses to this and they had given statements to the investigating officers there. The exact motive for the murder is not known.
There is no part of the body that is not injured. She was beaten so brutally. A re-postmortem has been demanded. A decision has been taken to proceed with the case. The parents of the accused are Kerala government employees. His brother is a doctor.
The report received from Uzbekistan only mentions a head injury. There is no mention of any bruises on her body. A detailed report from there will be obtained only after 20 days,’ clarified her relatives.
