
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five persons were arrested within two hours in connection with the stabbing death of a 34-year-old man on Thiruvonam day, police said. The arrested were Gouri Krishna (18), son of Shaji of Parakunnu Koduvelikonam, Njarayilkonam; Manu (19), son of Mani of Muthana; Kannan (18), son of Binu of Muthana; Ranjith (20); and Shaiju (22), son of Shiju of Parakunnu Koduvelikonam.
The deceased was Praji (34), son of Prakashan of Kocharam, Muthana. His friend Ajay (37), who was with him at the time, also sustained injuries in the attack.
According to police, previous enmity between the accused and Praji and Ajay was the reason for the murder. A detailed investigation into the case is under way.
The arrests were made under the direction of District Police Chief Prasanthan Kani by a team led by Varkala DySP Ramesh Kumar PV, Kallambalam Circle Inspector Deepu and SHO Manu. SI Nithin, Hari and Biju, ASIs Irshad and Sulal, police officers Aneesh, Sampath, Lijin Das, Sreejith, Shaimon, Shameer and Bijeesh Raj, along with members of the Rural DANSAF team, were part of the team.
