Fridge explodes at home, heard a loud explosion, say neighbours

PATHANAMTHITTA: A refrigerator exploded at a house in Niranam, Thiruvalla, causing an accident. The incident occurred around noon today at the residence of Jose.
Only his son was at home at the time of the incident. The refrigerator was kept in a room adjacent to the kitchen. The explosion damaged the walls of the room, while the ceiling and other appliances inside the room were destroyed in the fire. Two rooms also sustained damages.

A major disaster was averted as the fire did not spread to the area where the gas cylinder was kept in the kitchen. No one in the house was injured in the incident.
The neighbours said that they heard a loud explosion. A fire and rescue team from Thiruvalla arrived at the spot and brought the fire under control.
