
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of heavy rainfall, district collectors have declared a holiday for educational institutions in four districts of Kerala on Saturday. The holiday has been announced in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in these districts. The holiday applies to schools, professional colleges, anganwadis, tuition centres, Kendriya Vidyalayas, madrasas, and other religious educational institutions.
Kozhikode
The District Collector of Kozhikode declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Saturday following the red alert issued by the IMD and widespread waterlogging reported in several parts of the district. Authorities have also warned of continued heavy rain and strong winds in the coming days. The holiday applies to schools, madrasas, tuition centres, professional colleges, and anganwadis. However, previously scheduled public examinations and university examinations will be held as planned. People have been advised to remain highly cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
Wayanad
Due to the ongoing warning for very heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in Wayanad district, including religious study classes, tuition centres, special classes, anganwadis, and professional colleges. The holiday does not apply to residential schools.
Kasargod
With the IMD forecasting extremely heavy rainfall and issuing a red alert for Kasargod district on Saturday, the District Collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions as a precautionary measure. The holiday applies to professional colleges, schools, anganwadis, tuition centres, ICSE and CBSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, madrasas, and other religious educational institutions. The holiday does not apply to residential schools. Previously scheduled university examinations, public examinations, and interviews will be held without any changes.
Kannur
The Kannur District Collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the district on Saturday following the red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the continuing heavy rainfall in the region. The holiday will apply to all educational institutions, including professional colleges, schools, anganwadis, tuition centres, ICSE and CBSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, madrasas, and other religious educational institutions. However, residential schools have been exempted from the holiday order. The Collector also clarified that there will be no change in the schedule of previously announced university examinations, public examinations, and interviews, which will be conducted as planned.
