Youth dies after lift collapses in Muvattupuzha 

KOCHI: A youth died after an open lift of the business firm in Muvattupuzha collapsed. The dead has been identified as Akshay Krishnan (19), son of Krishnan and Susheela of Peringazha Thevalam. Akshay was an employee of Mullupuram Stores in Muvattupuzha’s Velloorkunnam.

The lift of the newly constructed three-storied godown at the back of the Karuna Hospital near Velloorkunnam Mahadeva Temple, collapsed Tuesday morning. Akshay went to the godown to take some things kept on the top floor. CCTV footage shows the lift collapsing and Akshay falling down.

The other employees who came to the godown saw Akshay lying down. His life could not be saved even after taking him to a hospital nearby and then to a private hospital in Thodupuzha. The head injuries he sustained is the cause of his death. The police have registered a case of unnatural death in the incident
