KANNUR: The Health Department shut down a hotel after three students sought medical help in a suspected case of food poisoning after eating Kuzhimandi from the hotel. The Zafran Mandhi in Panoor, Kannur, was closed by officials following a complaint. The students consumed the Yemeni dish Mandi from the hotel yesterday evening. After a while, they started vomiting and feeling unwell. They immediately sought treatment at a private hospital in Panoor.

The action was taken after the parents of the students filed a complaint with the police and the Health Department. Last night itself, Health Department officials conducted an emergency inspection at the hotel and recommended that the hotel be closed as further inspection was required. Food samples have been collected. The authorities said that further action will be taken after receiving the inspection report. The health condition of the students is satisfactory.
