THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government rejected the arguments put forward by MR Ajith Kumar seeking cancellation of the suspension. The government reiterated that the suspension was based on serious findings in the SIT report and the Chief Secretary has the authority to sign it. The government also rejected Ajith Kumar's argument that the Chief Minister did not sign it.

The government shrugged off Ajith Kumar's allegation of malicious intention behind the suspension. Ajith Kumar argued that the move was to prevent promotion, which the government termed baseless. The action was taken in accordance with the rules. An explanation was sought from Ajith Kumar before the suspension order. However, the government deemed his response unsatisfactory.

The SIT report found that ADGP Ajith Kumar intervened and changed the statements of some people in the Alappuzha ‘rescue work’ that saw youth congress getting beaten up by former chief minister's security staff. The government said that the allegation that the suspension was politically motivated will not stand. The government filed an affidavit with the Central Administrative Tribunal demanding dismissal of Ajith Kumar's petition. The petition will be considered on the 3rd of next month.
