SFI protest at Kerala University turns tense over law college evaluation issues

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A protest organised by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at the Kerala University headquarters against alleged irregularities in the evaluation of law college examinations turned tense on Friday, with a clash breaking out between police and protesters.

The SFI later marched to the Commissioner’s Office alleging that police had forcibly removed activists who were protesting peacefully. The organisation alleged that police forcibly removed activists, including women, by grabbing them by their hair.

The protesters had staged a sit-in in front of the office of the university Registrar, raising issues related to irregularities in evaluation and changes made to the revaluation process at law colleges under Kerala University.
The march to the Commissioner’s Office was organised following the police action against the protest. Police later said that the activists who had been taken into custody would be released.
