THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major tragedy was averted after a KSRTC bus met with an accident at the popular hill station of Ponmudi on Saturday. The KSRTC's 'Priyadarshini' bus, carrying several passengers, reportedly suffered a brake failure while descending the sixth hairpin bend on the Ponmudi hill road.
The driver acted swiftly, steering the out-of-control bus into a concrete safety barrier along the roadside to bring it to a halt. His presence of mind prevented the bus from plunging down the hillside, averting what could have been a major disaster. Despite the accident, none of the passengers sustained any injuries. KSRTC later arranged another bus to safely transport the passengers back to Thiruvananthapuram.
