THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate special services to six major Bali Tharpanam centres in Thiruvananthapuram district in connection with Karkidaka Vavu. The special services will cover Shankhumukham, Thiruvallam, Varkala, Aruvikkara, Aruvippuram and Kadinamkulam. The services will begin at 2 am on Wednesday.
Around 68 buses, including ordinary, fast passenger and electric buses, have been allocated for the special services. Services have been arranged from various depots across the district.
Under the Attingal unit, 10 buses from the Vellanad, Kattakada, Aryanad, Venjaramoodu and Palode depots will operate special services. Four buses from the Nedumangad and Vithura depots under the Kaniyapuram unit will also operate services to the Bali Tharpanam centres.
Ten buses from the Vikas Bhavan, Peroorkada, Vizhinjam, Neyyattinkara and Parassala depots under the Thiruvananthapuram City unit will also be deployed.
Under the Pappanamcode unit, 10 buses from the Kattakada, Neyyattinkara, Parassala, Vellarada and Poovar depots have been arranged for the special services. Two buses from the Kilimanoor depot have also been allocated.
Around 30 ordinary buses from the Attingal, Kaniyapuram, Thiruvananthapuram City and Pappanamcode depots will also operate services on Wednesday.
Special squad officials, including unit officers and inspectors, have been assigned duties as part of measures to regulate the crowds.
