KOCHI: The Mini Cooper involved in the accident that killed three youths in Nedumbassery is registered in the name of the accused’s mother, police said. The vehicle’s registered owner is Nooha Sajeev, mother of Suhail Sajeev, the accused in the case.

The investigation team will meet the families of the students killed in the accident and record their statements. The team is expected to visit their residences in Palakkad and Wayanad on Monday. The visits will be led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). Investigators have also decided to seek Suhail’s custody again for further questioning.

An Angamaly Magistrate Court recently rejected the bail applications of Suhail Sajeev and his co-accused, Ninav, Joel and Ameer.

Meanwhile, an inspection by the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) found illegal modifications to Suhail’s Mini Cooper. The car’s silencer had been replaced, and a system had been installed with a special switch to alter the exhaust sound. The Angamaly Joint Regional Transport Officer (RTO) has issued a notice to Suhail’s father seeking details of the vehicle.
