KOVALAM: CPM state secretariat member P.A. Mohammed Riyas said Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan's remarks about the fishermen who went missing at sea were unacceptable. He was speaking to the media after visiting the family of John Mathias, a native of Pulluvila who went missing at sea from Vizhinjam.

Riyas said there was growing criticism that the search for the missing fishermen was not effective. He also criticised the Fisheries Minister for not visiting the area even 10 days after the incident.

"The Chief Minister and other ministers, who made immature statements, should stop their challenge towards society," Riyas said. He also demanded that the Chief Minister apologise to the fishermen.

CPM district secretariat member P.S. Harikumar, P.K.S. state president Vandithadam Madhu, CPM district committee member V. Anoop, Kovalam area secretary S. Ajith and area committee members G. Anilkumar and K. Madhu were also present.
