PATHANAMTHITTA: The Pandalam Palace has protested against the remarks made by activist Sunny M Kapicadu about Lord Ayyappa and Malikappurathamma, the deities worshipped at Sabarimala. In a statement, the Pandalam Palace administration said it strongly rejected what it described as Kapicadu’s irresponsible and inappropriate comments about the deities.
The statement said Kapicadu’s remarks were insulting to the deities and would not be accepted by the Hindu community or devotees. The palace administration also demanded that the Kerala government and the Travancore Devaswom Board take strong legal action against him.
The Sabarimala Karma Samithi has also demanded action against Kapicadu and expressed its protest over his alleged derogatory remarks. The organisation urged the Kerala government and the Devaswom Board to intervene immediately, register a case and initiate legal proceedings.
The Samithi said no one could claim the right to insult a deity in the name of criticism. It also pointed out that freedom of expression comes with responsibility and has its limits.
Kapicadu made the controversial remarks during an event at Malayalam University in Tirur.
