THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint surfaced alleging irregularities in the special recruitment examination for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), conducted by the Public Service Commission. It is alleged that this was done to favour a former SFI leader.
The 'Save University Campaign Committee' submitted a complaint to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister against K. J. Jithin. The complaint alleged that the examination process was manipulated to secure him the first rank, subsequently leading to a recommendation for his appointment.
Jithin does not even feature on the main rank list for the Police Battalion Constable post. The complaint demands that the permission granted to him for training, as well as his appointment order, be revoked. It further points out that several First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against Jithin, including cases related to the assault of college principals in Ernakulam district and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Applications for the post of DySP were invited in September 2025. The written examination was held on December 25. The physical test was completed in March 2026, and the interview in April. The final rank list was published on May 6. PSC Chairman M.R. Baiju personally participated in the interview process.
This new allegation emerged against the Public Service Commission (PSC), following SIT's discovery that senior officials at the commission made alterations to the examination notification for the post of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector. According to the SIT's findings, a six-member 'core group'—comprising the Chairman, three members with political affiliations, and two officials now arrested—was behind the examination and recruitment fraud.
