Gold scam, more than 100 complaints; Fraud Sreelakam finance manager Tinu Thampan arrested

ALAPPUZHA: Sreelakam Finance Manager Tinu Thampan was arrested in the gold loan fraud case involving a Yuva Morcha leader. The Kurathikad police arrested the accused from a house in Kayamkulam. Yuva Morcha District General Secretary Rahul Radhakrishnan and the establishment owner Radhakrishnan Pillai are absconding in the case. In the complaint, it was alleged that the accused embezzled about 100 sovereigns of gold.

Tinu Thampan is the main accused for deceiving people with a fake promise of low interest for gold loans. The accused was selling the ornaments taken from customers. The information came to light when the customers arrived demanding their ornaments back. Subsequently, the police received many complaints against them. The police stated that they had received more than 100 complaints against the establishment. Police also faced severe criticism for purportedly delaying the arrest of Tinu Thampan.
