KALPETTA: Santhosh, father of Devika, who was killed in the Mini Cooper accident in Nedumbassery, has demanded that murder charges be slapped against Suhail Sajeev, who was driving the Mini Cooper. He said his daughter was the family’s sole breadwinner and expressed suspicion that the incident was not an ordinary accident but a deliberate collision.
‘Three youngsters who got jobs and dreamt of starting a new life are no longer with us. Devika was the light of our home. We took a loan and even sold our land to educate her. Now, we do not even have a place to perform our daughter’s last rites. We had to conduct the funeral at our ancestral home.
She was supposed to go to the Gulf for work in three or four months. My daughter was the only support for our family. The other two who died were in similar situations. No one else should have to go through this.
A murder case must be registered against Suhail. He was driving at an extremely high speed. Everyone witnessed his arrogance when he said that his father would intervene to sabotage the case. The police are conducting a proper investigation. The home minister had also assured us that all necessary assistance would be provided. We also suspect that the collision may have been intentional and premeditated.
Devika was talented in both academics and arts. She completed her BBA Aviation course with good marks. She was our hope for the future. We can never get her back. This was not an ordinary accident. We feel that the car was deliberately driven into them,’ said Santhosh.
