Woman dies after jumping from hotel in Kollam; youth under surveillance

KOLLAM: A 27-year-old woman died after jumping from the top of a hotel building. She has been identified as Vrinda of Kanjikuzhy in Alappuzha. Vrinda was the daughter of Nagappan of Vishnu Nivas, located east of the Kanichukulangara NH Junction.

The woman jumped from the top floor of a hotel in Kollam city at around 6 pm on Saturday. The woman died moments after the accident. The woman had been staying here in a room with the youth from Ernakulam since August 20. Police investigation revealed that the two had been living together for the past few days.

The youth with her is under police surveillance. The reason that led to her suicide is not clear. The body, which is kept in the district hospital, will be handed over to the relatives after the postmortem.
