MALAPPURAM: Muslim Youth League National Secretary CK Shakir was removed from all party positions following his verbal tirade against an auto driver who committed suicide. The action was taken on the recommendation of the state committee. Shakir had written on Facebook blaming the youngster’s rationalist thoughts and atheism for leading him to suicide. Shakir had also said that the MVD was not guilty in this matter. The post was withdrawn after a huge controversy.

Shoukat of Kizhissery committed suicide after writing a note, alleging torture by MVD officials for not allowing him a fitness certificate for his autorickshaw.

"I have been visiting agent offices for the past ten months but to no avail. I have no other options now. If you do not want me to be the next victim, then at least after death, I should get justice for myself as an Indian citizen. My decision to end my life is also a protest against the system. The MVD denied fitness by saying that there was steel work in the auto. My last wish is that the Honourable Home Minister and the High Court intervene in the matter," Shoukat said in a Facebook post.
