Catering fraud: Owner held for failing to deliver food for weddings

KOTTAYAM: Vishnu Mohan, owner of Udhayam Catering Events in Kanjirappally, has been arrested for allegedly failing to provide food for wedding events after taking payment. The catering service had failed to deliver food for three weddings held at Chottiyil in Mundakayam, Kanjikuzhi in Kottayam and Perumbavoor in Ernakulam.

According to the complaint, the catering service collected money after promising to provide food for the wedding ceremonies but later failed to turn up at the venues. Two families had booked the service online after seeing its advertisements on Instagram and had paid an advance of Rs 1 lakh to Vishnu.

Vishnu allegedly collected more than Rs 3 lakh from people in Perumbavoor. The Kanjirappally-based catering service had undertaken to provide food for all three weddings.
