THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crime branch team probing the Sultan Bathery bribery case has said that there was clear evidence to prove that BJP state president K Surendran had handed over a bribe to JRP leader CK Janu. The probe team said that a charge sheet would be filed soon in the case. K Surendran is the first accused in the case. CK Janu will be the second accused. BJP district vice president Prashant Malavayal will also be named an accused in the case.

The results of the forensic examination of the phone conversations will be available next week. It is alleged that K Surendran had paid a bribe of Rs 35 lakh to CK Janu, state president of the Janadhipathya Rashtriya Party, to contest from the Sultan Bathery constituency in the Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, K Surendran has been slapped with non-bailable charges over the Manjeswaram bribery case.
