KOCHI: 24-year-old Bhadra Keerthi has become the center of national attention through her fight against the 17-year-old, who fatally struck her father, Jayabalakrishnan, with a Benz car and his father, a judge. Jayabalakrishnan of South Chittoor, was riding his scooter along Kochi's Container Road when a Benz car hit him in the early hours of last Sunday.
After the police initially made arrangements to help the accused escape, a protest launched by Bhadra Keerthi and her siblings soon after their father's funeral proved successful. The woman, who had lost her father just two months after starting her job with the dream of completing her studies and supporting him financially, took to the streets demanding justice.
Meanwhile, a video of Bhadra Keerthi attending the game show Udan Panam on Mazhavil Manorama two years ago has resurfaced and is now circulating widely on social media.
Bhadra Keerthi appeared on the show while pursuing her master's degree. At the time, she told the hosts that her ambition was to study well, earn a PhD and become Dr R J Bhadra Keerthi. She also said that it was not just her own name that was interesting, but all three names her father had chosen for their children.
Her elder brother's name is R J Bharat Shankar, while her younger brother is named R J Bhagya Darshan Shakthi.
Bhadra Keerthi also spoke about 'Balettan Dosakkada', the small eatery run by her father in South Chittoor, and the hard work her family had put into running it. She said the eatery was popular for its mini dosas and omelettes. She also recalled helping her mother at the hotels she had previously run in Ernakulam and Varappuzha. Those hotels were later shut down, leaving only the small eatery. Since it operates until late at night, Bhadra Keerthi said she does not usually go there to help.
