Social media influencer Diya Krishna announced taking a break from Instagram for a short period. The decision comes a day after she faced criticism and a cyberattack over a comment made on the post of a North Indian vlogger who remarked on the demographic transition around Fort Kochi.
Diya on social media:
“I Realised No matter how much of a true, Kind n good hearted person you are, Some People Inside Social Media can tear you apart if they don't like you. It can even destroy relationships.
Saying Goodbye to Instagram for a short While. Need to Detoxify myself from this
Negativity. To everyone who loved me so far, thank your n I'll forever be grateful to you!
Adios”
Meanwhile, the Kerala government initiated a case against the vlogger Amrit Singh for allegedly spreading hatred against the state on social media.
In a vlog Amrit posted on his stay in Fort Kochi, he commented on the rising Muslim population in the area and asked the central government to intervene. The vlogger also criticised a café on the premises that had a sculpture of Pakistan’s first prime minister, Jinnah. Diya Krishna commented ‘sad reality’ on the post shared by Amrit, which ended up irking netizens. Yesterday, Diya responded that her 'sad reality' comment was intended for the Jinnah sculpture and was not an endorsement of the vlogger's religious remarks.
