Everywhere you looked... Twins! Kerala wedding leaves guests amazed

KOTTAYAM: A Christian wedding in Kerala turned into a celebration unlike any other, with not just the bride and groom, but even the priests and altar servers coming in pairs.

The rare ceremony took place last Thursday at the Changanassery Metropolitan Church in Kottayam, where twin brothers Akhil K. Thomas and Nikhil K. Thomas married twin sisters Magi Mary Thomas and Maria Mary Thomas in a double wedding.

As Akhil tied the minnu around Maggie's neck, his twin brother Nikhil did the same for Maria, making it a perfectly synchronised celebration.

Adding to the uniqueness, the wedding was officiated by twin priests from the Kanjirappally Diocese — Fr. Anto Perumkattill and Fr. Ajo Perumkattill. Assisting them at the altar were another set of twins, Jeron James and Johon James from Pala.

Akhil and Nikhil are the sons of Kunjumon Thomas and Jomol of Vettuparambil, Changanassery, while Maggie and Maria are the daughters of Tomichan and Marykutty of Kumbuluvayal, Pathanamthitta.

The twin brides said they had dreamed since childhood of having a wedding surrounded by twins. It was they who took on the task of finding twin priests to officiate the ceremony, eventually locating Fr. Anto and Fr. Ajo from a church in Kothanalloor.

Akhil and Nikhil both work in the merchant navy, while Maggie and Maria are employed in the IT sector.
