THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Editor K R Ajayan, who was removed from the editor’s post of the weekend newspaper in the Kallan Vijayan article controversy, has resigned from Deshabhimani. Ajayan, who was removed from the editor’s post was asked to resign or to go on extended leave. He subsequently submitted his resignation. The resident editor had earlier sought an explanation from Ajayan. Ajayan had explained that the headline of the article titled Kallan Vijayan was not against the party line. The article, which was not published in Deshabhimani, was later posted on social media by its author.
The resident editor had issued a show-cause notice to Ajayan, alleging that he had failed to change the headline despite being instructed to do so and had leaked the information to the media. However, the article written by T C Rajesh was published with the headline ‘Kallan Vijayan, Dhanya Nadakagramam, Muthippara P.O.’
Following this, some members of the editorial board raised objections, creating a situation in which the publication of the weekly edition was at risk of being disrupted. The article written by T C Rajesh was about Vijayan, a well-known theatre personality from Pullampara in Thiruvananthapuram.
