17 killed, many critical in truck-bus collision in Telangana

HYDERABAD: 17 people were killed after an over speeded truck collided with a bus in Telangana. The incident happened early Monday morning at Mirjaguda near Chevella in Rangareddy district of Telangana. Ten sustained serious injuries in the accident. The bus belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGRTC) met with the accident. The driver of the truck is among the dead.

The bus was carrying 40 passengers and was travelling from Tandur in Vikarabad to Hyderabad when collided with the truck laden with gravel. The passengers were taken out from the damaged bus after a great effort. The authorities said the injured was taken to the hospitals nearby and that the condition of many of them are serious. Transportation was disrupted for hours.

A 10-month-old baby, 10 women, and the drivers of both heavy vehicles are among the dead. Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed grief over the accident. All help will be provided to the families to the dead and the injured.
