LUCKNOW: In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh, a 50-year-old grandmother eloped with her grandson after marrying him at a temple. The woman, named Indravati, who has four children, married her grandson Azad. It is unclear where the couple went after the marriage. Reports also suggest that Indravati had plotted to kill her husband and children.

Sources indicate that the duo visited the Govind Sahib Temple, performed the customary rituals by applying sindoor, and completed seven rounds around the sacred fire to formalise their marriage. Indravati has two sons and two daughters. The family resides near Ambedkar Nagar. Although Indravati and Azad had been involved romantically for some time, their relationship went unnoticed by others, as Azad was seen merely as her grandson.

Tensions escalated when, four days before their disappearance, Indravati’s husband Chandrashekhar discovered them secretly conversing. Upon learning about the affair, Chandrashekhar vehemently opposed the relationship, but the two remained defiant. Efforts by Chandrashekhar to involve the police were unsuccessful, as authorities noted that both individuals were adults and declined to intervene. Indravati is Chandrashekhar’s second wife. It is believed that Chandrashekhar’s frequent absences due to work commitments contributed to the development of the illicit relationship between Indravati and Azad.
