NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that the portal for applying for Class 12 revaluation is functioning smoothly, despite opening a day later than scheduled. According to CBSE, by 12 noon on Wednesday, the portal had received 4,924 applications for mark verification and 39,056 applications for revaluation. By 9:30 a.m., nearly 40,000 students had already used the portal.

CBSE said the platform is under constant monitoring by technical teams to ensure security and prevent disruptions. Payment gateways of the State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Bank have been integrated into the portal. Students do not need to have accounts in these banks to use the payment facilities.

One-member panel begins investigation
Meanwhile, a one-member committee appointed by the central government has begun collecting evidence in connection with alleged irregularities in the awarding of the contract for On-Screen Marking (OSM) of Class 12 answer sheets. The inquiry is being led by S. Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission. She will be assisted by officials from other departments as part of the investigation.

The Capacity Building Commission, which works to improve the efficiency and skills of government employees, will also support the inquiry. The committee has been asked to submit its report to the Department of Personnel and Training under the Prime Minister's Office within one month.

Following controversies related to CBSE question papers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly intervened directly, leading to changes in the board's top leadership. Former CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta were replaced. In their place, IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram from the Home Ministry was appointed as Chairman, while Varun Bhardwaj was named the new Secretary.
