LUCKNOW: A massive controversy has erupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad after a rape accused was accorded a hero's welcome with flower garlands and a celebratory procession immediately after being released on bail.

The accused, identified as Sushil Prajapati, is a former member of the Hindu Yuva Vahini. He had been in custody for the past nine months following his arrest for allegedly sexually assaulting a law student, whom he had lured to a flat under the false pretext of introducing her to a lawyer.

Video footage of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows a large crowd gathering outside the prison gates to greet Prajapati. Supporters are seen placing garlands around his neck, chanting slogans, and lifting him onto their shoulders in a celebratory march. Several individuals in the crowd can also be seen flashing victory signs and cheering.
The public glorification of a rape accused has triggered widespread outrage and severe backlash across social media platforms and political circles. Addressing the growing criticism, local police officials stated that they have taken note of the video and an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
