KHATIMA: A private school teacher sustained injuries, and a wild elephant’s tusk was shattered into pieces following a bizarre collision on a forest road in the Khatima region of Uttarakhand.
The incident occurred when Nikita Kapri, a teacher at Hind Public School, was commuting to work on her Honda Activa scooter. According to reports, a wild elephant suddenly emerged from the dense forest onto the roadway. Unable to apply the brakes in time, Nikita crashed directly into the animal.
The impact of the collision severely damaged the scooter and fractured one of the elephant's tusks into three pieces, which were left scattered across the road. Eyewitnesses stated that the panicked elephant fled back into the wilderness immediately after the crash.
Local police and forest department officials rushed to the scene upon receiving information. Nikita was promptly transported to a nearby private hospital, where attending doctors have listed her condition as stable.
Forest officials have recovered the fragments of the elephant tusk and transferred them to the range office. An official investigation into the incident has been initiated, and forest authorities are reportedly monitoring the area.
