CHENNAI: Actor Vishal criticised the Vijay government's move to give Rajmohan the cinema department in Tamil Nadu. Rajmohan was given crucial departments like film technology and the Cinematograph Act. The decision seems to have irked Vishal.
In a note shared on X, Vishal clarified that it was appropriate for Vijay, who has decades of association with the Tamil cinema world, to handle this department. Vishal clarified that he did not intend to personally insult Rajmohan and said that someone with direct experience in the field is needed to accurately understand the long-unresolved issues in the film industry.
He pointed out that the Tamil film industry is currently going through a major crisis and added that urgent reforms and assistance are needed. Vijay, with decades of experience in the industry, was the expected choice for these departments. Vishal said that in the current economic crisis, film producers and production houses are expecting a major move from the TVK government to upend their prospects.
Rajmohan is an MLA from the Egmore constituency. Rajmohan was given the portfolios related to cinema along with education, Tamil development, information and publicity, archaeological department and Tamil culture. Meanwhile, actor Arun Vijay made an implicit response to Vishal's remarks. He asked the people not to interfere in government decisions and said that Vijay is well aware of the challenges in the film sector.
