
THRISSUR: More information emerged in connection with a dispute between a ‘counselling couple’ solving marital issues. The dispute between Mario Joseph and his wife Jiji Mario escalated on October 25. In a fit of rage, Mario Joseph hit his wife on the head with a TV box, bit her hands and threw her phone worth Rs 70,000. After the incident came to light, there was widespread criticisms against the couple. Jiji Mario has now responded to the attack.
Jiji said there are no family issues with her husband, only professional ones. 'While the trust in the name of Philokalia existed, Mario Joseph started a separate institution under the same name under the Companies Act. From then, the problems started. When a problem arose in the institution, I questioned him. People around my husband are misleading him. There is no salary for the board members in Philokalia. In the new organization started under the Companies Act, they can draw salary of lakhs. That is why the board members tried to destroy the trust,' said Jiji.
The couple fought while settling a family dispute. The two had been living apart for nine months. Jiji had gone to her husband Mario's house to settle the matter. While talking, the matter got worse. Mario then attacked Jiji. The couple gained attention on social media through their family meditation program. The Koratti police registered a case against Mario in the incident. The case is under a section that carries a one-month jail term and a fine of Rs 5,000. Mario Joseph has also filed a complaint against Jiji.
