Expatriate youth found dead at girlfriend's house in Kozhikode; probe ongoing

KOZHIKODE: A young man was found hanging from the ceiling at his girlfriend's rented house in Perumanna. The victim, identified as Shawad Anwar (26), a resident of Perattum Poyil Kuzhikkattu, of Balussery, was found dead in the incident.

The incident took place at 11.45 am on Friday at a rented house in Kolakamparamba, Perumanna. After the girl raised an alarm, the neighbours reached the spot and informed the police.

The body of Shawad Anwar was found hanging with a shawl around his neck in the hallway of a one-story clay-tiled house. At the time of his death, Shawad was wearing only his inners. The 17-year-old girl, her mother and her brother were the only ones living in the rented house. The girl was the only one at home at the time of the incident. It is reported that the suicide was caused by a sudden quarrel between the two.

Shawad, an expatriate, was in Kerala on vacation.
