KANNUR: LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan termed P Jayarajan's controversial remark as a use of rhetorical language. The LDF convenor explained that P Jayarajan's mortuary speech against the Yuva Morcha was rhetorical as an orator. EP also accused that communal campaign is being done in the name of using such language. As a survivor of RSS brutality, his emotions can be seen in his speech but the word mortuary was used as a joke by P Jayarajan said the LDF convenor.

EP Jayarajan also supported Speaker MN Shamseer's speech which started the CPM-Yuva Morcha controversy. Yuva Morcha is targeting Shamseer for the sole reason that he belongs to the Muslim community. Shamseer has not insulted any god. Yuva Morcha is taking an anti-Muslim stance, EP Jayarajan clarified. He further added that CPM has been trying to maintain peace in Kannur for the last five or six years and the district has become calm as a result.

CPM state committee member P Jayarajan had said that the place of the Yuva Morcha member who raises hands against Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer would be in the mortuary. Jayarajan's remarks were against the challenge made by state general secretary K Ganesh during the Yuva Morcha's march to the MLA camp office in Thalassery alleging Ganapathi blasphemy. Later, Yuva Morcha came out with death threat slogans against P Jayarajan and Shamseer.
