Six national highway projects worth Rs 21,271 crore in Kerala, announces National Highways Authority of India Chairperson Alka Upadhyay

KOCHI: Six new National Highway projects with a distance of 187 km will be implemeted in Kerala at a cost of Rs 21,271 crores. The National Highways Authority of India Chairperson Alka Upadhyay said in Kochi that the 121 km long Palakkad - Malappuram - Kozhikode Greenfield Highway 966 will be facilitated for transportation. With the upgrade of this NH, the travel time will be reduced from 3.5 hours to one and a half hours.

177 km road network has been completed in Kerala. Construction of 403 km of roads is in progress at a cost of Rs 34,972 crore. 59 km Chenkotta - Kollam Greenfield Highway will ensure uninterrupted transportation. 12.34 km elevated highway from Thuravoor to Aroor in Alappuzha district will be implemented. It will be the longest six-lane elevated highway in the state.

The Outer Ring Road project will be approved to facilitate traffic in Thiruvananthapuram district. This will be included in the Bharatmala project. The Kuthiran tunnel is used by more than 30,000 vehicles daily. She said the Paliyekkara toll plaza was a model where only women employees were assigned to collect user fees on the morning shift.
