THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The suspension order of ADGP M R Ajith Kumar in the Alappuzha rescue operation case, has surfaced. The order says that Ajith Kumar misused his power and pressured the investigating officers to sabotage the investigation and protect the accused. The report says that there was intense pressure on the investigating officers to submit a referral report that would conclude the case proceedings.

Statements given to the SIT by inspector K P Tomson and DySPs Arun K S and Sunil Raj detailed Ajith Kumar's interference in the probe. The officers stated that Ajith Kumar expressed dissatisfaction with findings related to the involvement of the former chief minister's gunmen. He is also accused of personally reviewing the case diary and directing investigators to close the case.

The suspension order emphasizes that a supervisory officer's intervention must remain lawful and aimed at ensuring justice. Instead, it alleged that Ajith Kumar's actions were illegal, denied justice to the victims and helped to shield the accused. The report also names two officials from Ajith Kumar's office--Gireesh and Sreekanth, as having played roles in the alleged attempt to derail the investigation. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Ajith Kumar under the All-India Services Rules.
