THRISSUR: The raid conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at former minister A C Moideen MLA’s house as part of an investigation in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam case, ended Wednesday morning at 5 am. The raid lasted for more than 22 hours.

An ED team consisting of 12 people along with armed forces reached Moideen’s house at Panangattukara yesterday morning at 7 am.

The ED team from Kochi reached his house when Moideen was about to leave to attend the CPM district committee meeting. A team led by ED chief Anand Sharma briefed Moideen, who reached home after his morning stroll, about the raid. The raid started after closing the doors of the house without allowing anyone to enter. Along with the raid at Moideen's house, a search was also conducted at the house of Sathish, who runs a financial lending firm in Kolazhy.

Moideen's wife Subaida Beevi and daughter Dr Sheeba were at home. Although Moideen went out twice during the raid, he did not respond to the media. It was alleged that people related to Moideen had loan transactions in the bank. There was also a complaint that the police did not investigate it. Father of T R Sunil Kumar, the first accused, had demanded to probe the role of former area secretary and former district secretariat member C K Chandran and Moideen in the Karuvannur bank fraud case. Sunil Kumar was Karuvannur bank secretary. The case is that almost Rs 300 crore had been illegally diverted.
