KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has issued a notice to the state government on the plea seeking compensation of Rs one crore to the family of Dr Vandana Das, stabbed to death at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. The plea filed by advocate Manoj Rajagopal of Kollam Mulangadakam was considered by a bench led by acting chief justice S V Bhatti and Justice Basant Balaji.
Vandana Das, a house surgeon, was stabbed to death on May 10 by Sandeep, a UP school teacher, while she was on duty at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital in Kollam. The high court had taken a suo moto case after criticizing the government. The petition demanded that the high court supervise the probe and issue guidelines to protect doctors, nurses and other employees in all hospitals.
