NEW DELHI: Just a day before the grand opening of the G20 summit in the capital, New Delhi has beefed up its security measures like never before. US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Chinese Premier Li Qiang will arrive on Friday.
Rishi Sunak will reach Delhi at 1.40 am while Joe Biden’s arrival is scheduled for 6.55 pm. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and others will follow suit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden on Friday after the latter’s arrival.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will arrive at 8 a.m. and French President Emmanuel Macron at 12.35 p.m. Biden is staying at ITC Maurya and Sunak at Shangri-La Hotel. Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth arrived in New Delhi on Thursday. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive world leaders at the Bharat Mandapam, the main venue at Pragati Maidan.
