THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of continuing brawls, the police have imposed strict restrictions on the night life at Manaveeyam Veedhi. People should disperse Manaveeyam Veedhi after 12 am. The cantonment assistant commissioner also recommended the commissioner to avoid stage programmes and loudspeakers.

The police assess that the rush at Manaveeyam Veedhi will be less as the state government's Keraleeyam programme has culminated. Allowing a person to use the loudspeaker becomes an obstacle to others. The police observe that this will lead to brawls. The police also stated that security will be made more efficient at Manaveeyam Veedhi.

The Commissioner of Thiruvananthapuram told media that it is likely to implement drug detection kits and breath analyzers at Manaveeyam Veedhi. If attacks are repeated, there will be more restrictions. Nightlife means shopping, entertainment and dining. Women, families, elderly people, children and youth should all come here. One's enjoyment should not annoy others. The city police commissioner said that it is not that you can do anything on the road. He added that the rule is that no mike and drums should be used after 10 pm.

Meantime, a clash broke out at Manaveeyam Veedhi yesterday also. A drunken group pelted stones at the police at midnight. A woman from Nettayam sustained head injuries. The police took four from Neyyatinkara and Nettayam into custody. The police also said that one person has been arrested.

The miscreants were seen pushing the chairs when a dance and a music concert were going on and this led to the conflict. Following this, the police arrived and shifted the miscreants to the Althara area. They soon pelted stones at the police.

The violence broke out again when the police were searching for the accused involved in the clash that broke out on Saturday. The attack was at 1.30 am on Saturday. A team surrounded Aksalan (27) and his brother Janeesh of Poonthura, who came to watch the programme, and beat them.

The visuals of the incident were circulated on social media. Aksalan suffered head injuries. The reason for the attack was a dispute over dancing during the performance. The visuals show a group of people dancing and shouting while attacking Aksalan. The police informed that more suspects were identified through Shiva, who was arrested.
