NEW DELHI: Anju, a native of Rajasthan who went to Pakistan to marry a man whom she befriended through Facebook, has come back to India. Anju returned to India through the Wagah border. After being interrogated by intelligence agencies, Anju was brought to Amritsar airport and will soon go to Delhi.
In 2019, Anju, who is married and a mother of two children, befriended a young man named Nasrullah (29) from a village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Following this the woman reached Pakistan last July. Anju married Nasrullah there, converted to Islam and changed her name to Fatima.
Anju's visa was extended by Pakistan for one year. In September, the media had reported that Nasrullah said that Anju was in deep grief because she could not see her children. After this, the woman has now arrived in India.
"Currently we are waiting for the no objection certificate from the Ministry of Interior, Islamabad. An application has been filed for this. The process will take some time to be completed', Nasrullah had told the media earlier. He added that Anju would soon return to Pakistan once the process for permanent residence was completed.
