KOLLAM: ADGP Ajith Kumar said that Anupama Pathman, one of the accused in the child abduction case in Oyoor, had a monthly income of 3 to 5 lakhs. He said that Anupama was adept in English and used to present the videos only in English which he said was akin to Oxford level. The ADGP elaborated on the circumstances that led Anupama, who aspired to become a law student to join her parents in the crime.

"It was Padmakumar's wife Anithakumari's brain that executed the abduction plan. The couple have been planning for the move since 2022. Daughter Anupama and Padmakumar's mother initially had objections. But when the need for money became urgent, Anupama fell in line with her parents. Meanwhile, on June 28, Padmakumar’s mother died. Anupama's monthly income from YouTube was between 3-8 lakhs to 5 lakhs. However, in July, Anupama fell into depression as YouTube stopped monetizing her videos. She felt that it would be easy money if the plan went well and decided to help her parents in the abduction." said ADGP.

Padmakumar had a liability of five crores. The accused targeted Rs 10 lakh for emergency purposes. The ADGP said the abduction plan was executed with precision.
