DHAKA: As many as 43 people were killed after a fire broke out at a shopping mall in Bangladesh. Several people suffered injuries. The accident took place yesterday night. The fire broke out in a six-storey building.
"A fire broke out in a building in the downtown area of Dhaka on Thursday night. 43 deaths have been reported till this morning. Several people are undergoing treatment," Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen said.
Officials said that 33 people, including women and children, died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 75 people were rescued from the building. The fire broke out in the restaurant on the first floor of the mall. The fire then spread to other places. The fire was brought under control after two hours of hard work. The cause of the accident is unclear.
