ALAPPUZHA: Ambalappuzha MLA G. Sudhakaran on Sunday criticised the police and the Congress in the presence of Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. He made the remarks while attacking the CPM leadership and LDF councillors.

Sudhakaran alleged that LDF councillors in the Alappuzha municipality were conspiring against him. He said the police, which comes under the Home Department, failed to inform him in advance despite knowing that protests against him were likely to take place at the municipality.

He also called on Chennithala's party, the Congress, to end what he described as its "understanding" with the CPM. Sudhakaran alleged that such political arrangements would lead to large-scale corruption.

Responding to the remarks, Chennithala extended his full support to Sudhakaran. He said it was not democratic to show black flags and insult a senior leader who had been elected by the people with their full support.

"The CPM should withdraw from attempts to insult and target G. Sudhakaran. The Congress extends its full support to him. I am not aware of the allegation raised by Sudhakaran regarding a political understanding. In the Exalogic case, the law will take its own course. As each day passes, more facts will come out, and the people will understand the truth," Chennithala said.
