Thrissur crowned champions at Kerala School Kalolsavam, bags Golden Cup after gap of 25 years

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thrissur has claimed the championship at the 63rd Kerala School Kalolsavam, winning the Kalakireedam (Golden Cup) with 1008 points. In a photo-finish victory, Thrissur edged past Palakkad by a narrow margin of just one point. Palakkad secured the second position with 1007 points, while Kannur, the previous year's champions, came third with 1003 points.

This marks Thrissur's first championship win in the State School Kalolsavam after a gap of 25 years. The last time Thrissur won the Golden Cup was in 1999 at the Kollam Kalolsavam.

In the high school category, Thrissur and Palakkad were tied with 42 points each. However, in the higher secondary category, Thrissur secured 526 points, while Palakkad managed only 525 points. This narrow margin ensured the golden cup for Thrissur.

In the school category, Alathur BSG Gurukulam Higher Secondary School in Palakkad secured first place with 171 points. Carmel Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram came second, while MK NMHS School in Idukki secured the third place.

Minister VS Sivankutty will distribute the prizes in the closing ceremony. Opposition Leader VD Satheesan will inaugurate the event. Actors Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali will attend the event as chief guests.
