Woman killed in wild elephant attack in Theni

CHENNAI: A woman was killed in a wild elephant attack at Theni in Tamil Nadu. The dead is Saraswathi, wife of Pichaiyya of Gudalur. She was attacked yesterday afternoon in the Lower Camp in Theni. Saraswathi and her husband were staying in the Lower Camp and were daily wage labourers.

The wild elephant attacked her while she was returning after work from the plantation of Azhakesan. She was walking along the road near the forest. Though seriously injured Saraswathi was immediately taken to the hospital in Gudalur, her life could not be saved. The body was taken to the hospital in Kambam for postmortem and later was handed over to her relatives.
