ALAPPUZHA: Minister of Culture of Kerala Saji Cherian remarked cinema industry a competitive field and wished great films to come out of the industry amid tough competition. The minister’s remark comes at a time when the cine field is divided over the issue alerting producer’s association and artists.
SAJI CHERIAN:
“Lead actors demanding high remuneration has irked the producers. Those actors have high market value and to act in movies, they would demand high remuneration. It is normal. There is no point in arguing about it. Even though superstar movies have failed, the actors have not lost their sheen. They are still in high demand among the audience.
When such superstars agree to be part of the movie, they must be paid according to their demands. Blaming the lead actors for the movie ending up as a flop is a no-brainer. Even movies made on a low budget are bombing these days. Even in the age of OTT, people have no qualms about reaching theatres to watch films. Let good films make it to the screens.
The producers’ association and others should settle their dispute at the very earliest. The government will intervene promptly. All these issues will be discussed in the conclave and the problems will be resolved”
