MOSCOW: Putin finally broke the silence over the conversation he had during a car ride with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. Putin said that he spoke to Modi about the discussions he had with US President Donald Trump at the summit in Alaska.
PM Modi and Putin travelled in the same car from the SCO summit venue to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel for bilateral talks. During the trip, the two discussed various issues. When asked by reporters what they discussed, Putin replied, "I spoke to him about the talks I had with Trump in Alaska."
Trump and Putin met in Alaska in August to discuss ending the conflict in Ukraine. PM Modi, after the meeting with Putin, called the talks ‘insightful’.
Russian President Putin and Indian Prime Minister Modi travelled together in Putin’s Aurus Senat. They spent about 45 minutes in the car.
