THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The antibody kit developed by the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology has obtained approval from ICMR. Though the kit that can detect the presence of coronavirus within 20 minutes was developed and submitted for approval in March, it received the approval on the other day only. The production of the kits will commence in Delhi once it gets approval from the Drug Controller of India. The results will be obtained through blood tests.

The cost of the new antibody kits, developed by a 10-member team of scientists under the leadership of Dr Radhakrishnan Nair, will be just Rs 380. With the antibody kits getting approval, the antibody tests in the state will become widespread.
