Clash breaks out when protestors block vehicle, MLA A Raja sustains injuries after beaten by police, CPM seeks action

IDUKKI: Devikulam MLA A Raja sustained injuries in the clash that broke out when the protestors blocked vehicles. The CPM came forward shortly seeking action against the police. The incident happened in Kattappana.

The MLA was talking at the protest meet in connection with the strike in Munnar. The activists owing allegiance to the strike blocked the vehicles that came that way. Soon the police intervened and a scuffle broke out between them. The MLA was beaten when he was trying to control the clash. He sustained injuries on his ears and has been admitted to the hospital.

Clashes broke out in many parts of the state. Nearly 20 trade unions except BMS announced a 48-hour strike against centre’s policies. The strike which started Sunday midnight will end today.
